Many working parents are only at the cottage on the weekend; a morning program for kids on one of those days has been proposed, and this year we are going to give it a try!

We are starting with a small group - 1 counsellor and 6-8 kids (depending on the age range) for 5 Saturdays (first day July 6, last day August 3). Camp will run on Cow Island from 9:30 to noon, and the fee will be $15 per child per day.

The focus will be on fun with games and crafts, and there will be no swim time.

There are 2 ways to register:

  1. CLICK HERE to download a form, complete and return it with payment.

Meet our Day Camp Team for 2019!

We are very pleased to introduce this year’s amazing team. Mya Gowanlock is returning for her 3rd year as a Cow Island day camp counsellor, this year in the role of Lead Counsellor. New to our staff this year is Rachel Callan; Rachel is a year-round lake resident, who has already had some great experience working with children. Joining them will be Counsellor-in-Training Kenzie Graham; Kenzie has been a BRLA day camp volunteer for several summers. All 3 counsellors have First Aid training, with both Rachel and Kenzie having the additional qualification of the Royal Life Saving Society Bronze Medallion, which includes First Aid and CPR training along with lifeguarding certification.

Claire Snider is the Volunteer Coordinator for camp this year. Claire is a parent of four of our regular campers and has been a cottager on Big Rideau for 25 years.

“I love being a day camp counsellor for the BRLA because you get to to work with amazing people and meet so many new people on the lake. I love working with all the kids - you get to be a teacher to the kids and teach them all about stuff on the lake and sometimes they even teach you a few things or two.”

Summer 2018 Recap

What a super team we had! Our superb Counselors Jill & Mya were assisted by some great volunteers - Kenzie, Nevan & Rachel.

Camp ran for 5 weeks in 2018, from July 3 to August 3. We were sold out in Week 1, and finished up with 15 kids in the final week, with a fun assortment of kids over all the other weeks.

Thanks to each of the Adult Coordinators who stepped in to help, and to everyone who keeps Cow 🐄 Island going for the 2018 BRLA Day Camp kids!!
